Sparrow’s origins
Zach Feyerherm started his career in 2007, shortly after graduating. He worked as an international and domestic freight forwarder in Chicago and Omaha, going on to spend the next 15 years in various roles, eventually becoming a division manager. Throughout his years of experience, Zach became increasingly disconcerted by the importance placed on the bottom dollar instead of the experience of the employees, carriers, and, at times, even the client.
In 2021, Zach decided to start his own logistics company, one that centered on a people-first approach. Sparrow’s name originates from his faith and belief that a good business starts with good connections.
“Sparrow was founded on Matthew 10:31 as a reminder of the providence of God. No matter what, He is in control and knows every detail of our story. Past, present, and future. He cares about us more than we can begin to comprehend. When people see the sparrow, I want that to remind them our mission at Sparrow Logistics is to provide the utmost service within the logistics industry. We want our clients, carriers, and team members to know they are valued and cared for. Sparrow is more than just “another broker.” We believe what we stand for and how we operate will positively impact the transportation industry.”
Stronger together
Of course, one wise man does not make a logistics company. Inspired by Zach’s initiative, his co-worker and friend, Kolin Brooks, decided to follow him in this new endeavor. Kolin works as the Divisions Manager and focuses on the day-to-day operations to ensure the team is set up with the best technology. Sean TeKrony brought his expertise in pricing to Sparrow after five years at a well-established broker. Then there’s Alex, who brings all the nitty-gritty details together as a Business Development Specialist. As the team grows, adding experience, one thing remains the same: Sparrow values the client journey— aiming to build trust whether a client decides to go with us or not.

While we understand that a good origin story is heartwarming, it doesn’t mean much if the sentiment isn’t put into practice. So how does our team dynamic make a difference?
